"On the west side of the island stands the Chapel of St. Walburga, belonging to the castle. Erching Castle was first documented around 1400, while the associated chapel was mentioned as early as 1315/16. The current castle building was constructed around 1652 under Prince-Bishop Albrecht Sigismund by Hans Moosbrugger as a hunting lodge. The chapel was reconsecrated to St. Walburga in 1672. Even today, the castle and chapel retain much of their appearance from 1699. Until secularization in 1802/3, the castle belonged to the Prince-Bishopric of Freising. Finally, in 1898, Josef Selmayr, brickyard owner and the last mayor of the municipality of Bogenhausen before its incorporation into Munich, purchased the castle estate in Erching. The castle has been owned by the Selmayr family ever since, who now operate a farm there." https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schloss_Erching

The castle is a former moated castle, a rectangular structure with a floor plan of approximately 15 × 20 meters, dating from the second half of the 14th century. The place name was first documented in the time of Bishop Abraham of Freising (957–994), when a document mentioning Odalrih de Nozingun as a witness. The family likely died out in 1261 with Thumhalt von Notzing. In 1347, the ducal tithe was held by Ulrich Fullsnicht, a citizen of Erding, and subsequently by the Muschelried family. Through sales, repurchases, and exchanges, the former 14th-century moated castle came into the possession of Jörg Schrenk, a citizen of Munich and a relative of the Muschelried family, around 1380. He was a member of a patrician Munich councilor and merchant family first documented in 1269. Bartholomäus Schrenck (* 1450; † 1519) was a city representative and councilor of Duke Albrecht IV of Bavaria. Until 1519, he ceded Notzing to the wealthy Tyrolean mining family Hofer zu Urfarn. Wolf Hofer completely renovated the castle and is likely the architect of the present village center. Upon entering the ducal Bavarian service during the 16th century, the Schrenk family made the transition from urban bourgeoisie to landed nobility, a process that culminated in 1625. As early as 1408, Michael Schrenck († 1429) had renounced his Munich citizenship and, as a landed lord, became a member of the knighthood in Bavaria-Landshut due to his inherited property in Notzing. In the first half of the 16th century, the family lost its ancestral home in Notzing. Nevertheless, members received confirmation of imperial nobility as Schrenck von Notzing in 1575. In 1528, ownership passed through the female line to Wolf Rosenbusch. The estate passed through marriage to Baron Rauber, who appointed Baron Segesser von Brunegg (1742–1812), a member of a Swiss noble family, as his heir. His daughter Carolina married Baron Jakob von Washington, a major general and royal chamberlain, in 1833. In 1846, the Washingtons sold the property, and around a dozen new owners followed until the castle passed to banker Edgar Ladenburg in 1912. The castle was expropriated by the Nazis in 1939. In 1946, as part of the reparations process, it was returned to the heirs, the Rosewick family from Stuttgart. Building Description

In 1836/37 the orangery for the court kitchen garden was built according to the plans of the court architect Jean-Baptiste Métivier. This classicist wooden building was personally commissioned by Duchess Auguste Amalie von Leuchtenberg, eldest daughter of King Max I Joseph. From 1934 to 1983 the orangery was used as a private gardening business until it was dismantled in 1983. The building experienced its renaissance in 1991/92 when it was reconstructed and expanded to become the foundation museum of the painter Hans Jürgen Kallmann. The facade of the modern museum building was modeled on the classicist building. The foundation museum is dedicated to the work of the painter Hans Jürgen Kallmann (1908 – 1991). During his lifetime, Kallmann was known throughout Europe as a painter of psychologically sensitive portraits of well-known personalities from culture, science and politics. His life's work also includes landscape paintings, animal motifs and interiors. (Kallmann Museum)

The park in the back of Ismaning Castle was redesigned in the English landscape style by Friedrich Ludwig von Sckell from 1807 onwards. Various buildings run through the park, including the light house installed in 2021, the Castle Museum, the Kallmann Museum (under restoration in 2022/23), and the gallery. The hornbeam hedge garden in front of the Kallmann Museum is small but beautiful. The park also enjoys open-air events, such as the three-day cultural festival that has been held for years. The complex with the castle, park and outbuildings is a listed building as an ensemble.

Ismaning Castle is a baroque castle near Munich, which is now used as the town hall of the municipality of Ismaning. In addition to the castle museum with its halls, you can visit the castle park, the Seidl mill and the Ismaninger Hörpfad. Events and weddings take place in the castle halls, such as the Blue or Red Hall. In the sawmill of the Seidl mill, a former grain and sawmill, the history and work processes of the old mill are illustrated. Bishop Philipp von Freising had the palace built in 1530. Between 1716 and 1724 the Renaissance building was redesigned in the Baroque style by Prince Bishop Johann Franz Eckher. In 1816, Napoleon's stepson, Eugène de Beauharnais, and his wife, Auguste Amalia, took over the château. While it was owned by the city of Munich from 1899 to 1919, it has belonged to the municipality of Ismaning since 1919. https://www.muenchen.de/wandern/burgen-und-schloesser/schloss-ismaning
