It is worth taking a detour and visiting the viewing platform on Bergstrasse in Kuden. Nice view from KLev, with a view of the NOK and Brunsbüttel.

The ferries across the NOK are free. The Burg ferry runs constantly. It never occurred to us to look for a timetable. Really great!!!!

The Kiel Canal is an artificial waterway, through the construction of which not only landscapes, forests and fields were intersected, but sometimes also villages and existing highways. The major roads and railways were connected by gigantic bridges, while the smaller ones were "bridged" by ferries. There are a total of 14 ferries operating along the canal, carrying cars, bicycles and pedestrians free of charge, day and night, from one bank to another, as required by imperial regulations. For anxious passengers, they are probably the safest means of transport, because over 100 years of history there have been no significant accidents!

Interesting is the ferry ferry Burg always, but you can usually look at one or more ships, which are just crossing the path of the ferry.

From here it is not far to Germany's deepest landing.

The NOK (in Germany until 1948 Kaiser Wilhelm Canal) connects the North Sea (Elb estuary) with the Baltic Sea (Kieler Förde). The foundation stone was laid in 1887 and the opening in 1895.
