A great way to cross the Kiel Canal. The transporter bridge (originally built in 1913 and renewed in 2022) is not only available for pedestrians and bicycles, but can also carry up to 4 cars. Use is free for everyone.

If you are lucky, there are children on board and the captain is in a good mood, it can even be done in a loop - in other words, 360 degrees of rotation before mooring on the other side :)

This section of the trail has just been restored and is now a great, smooth route, perfect for cycling with beautiful views.

Imposing building! It's a shame that the train no longer runs. But the detour through the tunnel is worthwhile.

The pilot station is on the southern bank of the NOK! The bike path runs directly between the canal and the building. A short rest here invites you to linger - the building is modern and maybe there is even an orange pilot on the bank!
