The castle dates back to the Middle Ages and was expanded into its current form in the 15th century. It is picturesquely situated on the banks of the Jagst River and impresses with its solid stonework and historic flair. Today, it is privately owned but houses, among other things, a hotel and serves as a venue for the Jagsthausen Castle Festival, where Goethe's "Götz von Berlichingen" is performed annually on the open-air stage.

Here you have to go over it if you are on the Jagsttalradweg. Structurally well done, as it elegantly spans the Jagst in an arch.

The Schlosshotel Götzenburg has been newly renovated and is currently being run as a Hotel Garni. There is a wonderful restaurant with a beer garden directly opposite the Götzenburg in the "Red Castle" for a "delicious and relaxed" cyclist break. The kitchen works with regional products and there are game dishes "from our own hunt".

A beautiful town, the Herbolzheim. The bike path always leads close to the idyllic creek along. There is always something to see and discover.
