The extensive pond landscape in Riddagshausen is the result of the work of the Cistercian monks, who drained the then very swampy area and created fish ponds. Of the original 28 ponds, 11 still exist today, of which the Mittelteich and Kreuzteich (between which the excellent path marked here runs) are among the largest. The ponds are home to a rich variety of flora and fauna. Totally beautiful here. With bike and dog. Sometimes VERY crowded. But nice.

Here you can take a nice break around the lake and enjoy the view when the jetty is free. 😉

Beautifully prepared boardwalk with benches and a view of the South Seas. Can be very crowded!
