After being closed following repeated acts of vandalism, the tower is currently being renovated, and hopefully it will be open to climbers again soon!

It's probably been closed for a long time. A construction fence prevented us from getting any closer.

Bismarck towers are great hiking destinations throughout Germany. 😍

Unfortunately, the landscape here has changed a lot in recent years. A few years ago there was still a dense spruce forest here, but now, as a result of climate change, the forest has disappeared and it will probably take a generation for a mixed forest to grow back.
