The Kapuzinerberg is 77 m above sea level. NN the second highest elevation in Krefeld. It is a former landfill that was opened to the public at a ceremony on June 20, 2004 after renovation. Wilhelm Bullen created the highest point in Straelen here more than 300 years ago. In 1697 he entered the convent of the nearby Augustinian Canons Monastery. With the abbot's permission, he built a fish pond and a vegetable garden. To do this, he lifted the upper layers of sand from the ground and, with great diligence, piled them up to form this mountain. In the 19th century, increasing piety took advantage of the mountain and built a calvary on it to commemorate Chisti Leiden on the Mount of Olives and Golgotha.
