The asphalt has seen better days in places, and you have to expect traffic. But for road bikes, there's almost no alternative to getting into or out of DD.

This little oasis has a great beach, with several nearby pitches for all types of campers. It's not as crowded as at well-known large campgrounds. Even as a cyclist, the spot is perfect for a cool dip in the middle of summer...

The Albert Bridge is the easternmost of the four Elbe bridges in Dresden's city center. It was built in the 1870s. The 316-meter-long bridge is named after King Albert of Saxony. During the GDR era, it was called the Bridge of Unity, commemorating the unification of the Communist Party of Germany (KPD) and the Social Democratic Party (SPD) in 1946.

I drove out of Dresden here; there was relatively little traffic, and the road was nice and wide. I also encountered plenty of other road bikes coming the other way. So it seems to be used a lot.

It's worth stopping by anywhere for a quick dip, otherwise asphalt gold all the way.

A sandy beach in the Baltic Sea style. Ideal for a quick cool-off in the summer. It's not too crowded yet, as it's brand new.

I don't like the route, especially the downhill route towards Dresden. Nevertheless, it is the best alternative for driving from Dresden to the northeast. The asphalt is like a patchwork quilt, the traffic can be really annoying at rush hour and even outside of rush hour it is never quiet here and you are sometimes overtaken very closely at high speeds. The parallel cycle path is unpaved but would be easy to ride on with a racing bike. However, there are a lot of pedestrians on the road, so it is better to take the road.

For a long picnic or a short break in a rain shower: the rest area can be used in many different ways. If you like, you can also find out more about the transformation of the region: from open-cast mining to Dreiweiberner Lake.

Beautiful route, here you roll towards Dresden almost by yourself, a little pedal and you have incredible speed. Have fun
