If you want to extend the tour, there is an easy way (although there is a piece of road) to Schwalefeld. In the house "Zur Waldesruh" there is a delicious cream puff or homemade cake / tart as a reward

A lap around the Diemelsee approx. 13.5 km is well suited for a bike tour with children. There are hardly any inclines and a third of the route leads through quiet forest. When the weather is nice, the lake is definitely worth a visit.

The dam wall is 42 m high from the foundation level, resulting in a maximum construction height of 5.8 m above the valley floor. At the crown it is around 194 m long and 7 m wide. The base width is about 31 m. The crown is at 378.2 m in height. In 1924 the dam was put into operation. The dam is entered in the list of monuments.

This is where most of the pictures of the lake are made. Benches invite you to linger on the dam wall. The cafe in the lake is in the immediate vicinity.

Always worth a trip. A bit crowded in summer, but you can still find a free space. With SUP you can explore the lake from the water.
