The castle, located in the picturesque Holtfeld district of Borgholzhausen, impresses with its unique architecture. In addition to the idyllic outer bailey and the impressive main building, the partially preserved moat complex and the oak avenue access are particularly worth seeing. The moated castle was first mentioned in documents in 1350 and was owned by the Lords of Wendt from 1491 to 1863. The manor house, built between 1599 and 1602, is an imposing gabled building with a square corner tower and magnificent volute gables. The moated castle cannot be visited. It is located on a well-accessible road.

Two watermills used to belong to Königsbrück Castle; today only the Niedermühle on the Warmenau remains, exactly on the border between Lower Saxony and North Rhine-Westphalia.

The baroque character still characterizes the image of the entire complex in Gesmold today and documents the ideas, lifestyles and concepts of bygone times. The extensive design desire of all the owners over the centuries (since 1170) is evident and can be experienced in today's complex. The eventful history with changing owner families is unique both historically and art-historically.

The Mühlenteich is a little off the Königsbrück Castle in Lower Saxony. The Warmenau is the border to North Rhine-Westphalia

From the path along the Else through the Tiergarten you can enjoy this beautiful view of the back of the palace.

Schloss Königsbrück

The castle complex has been partly preserved, partly rebuilt, or replaced by other buildings. Teaching events are held here, there's a small open-air theater, a playground, a café open on weekends, and a terrace with a magnificent view.

Nice spot to watch and relax with very nice paths around it.
