Herten Castle is a moated castle on the western edge of downtown Herten in the Recklinghausen district. It lies in the middle of an old English landscape garden and was first mentioned in 1376.

Very nice moated castle. The NSG Bodelschwingher Wald is also very beautiful, but the A 45 goes straight through here, which is hardly noticeable after a few meters.

We spent a lunch break at the castle mill. It is right at the junction of the Lippeauen Lünen cycle path and offers plenty of seating and a beautiful watering hole. The mill can also be used for civil weddings. Very idyllic and very nice to switch off.

In 1760, the lord of the castle Giesbert von Frydag had this old half-timbered mill built.

Nice old half-timbered house and watermill. Among other things, there is also a wedding room here. It is also an ideal place to take a break for a short rest.
