Friedelsheim Castle with its preserved castle tower is estimated to have been built in the 13th or 14th century. However, the first documented mention of it is much later, in 1418. After several changes of ownership, Friedelsheim Castle was upgraded to a Renaissance castle in the late 16th century by Count Palatine Johann Kasimir. The 17th century was certainly not a good one for many castles in the Palatinate, and Friedelsheim Castle is no exception: First, it was badly damaged by fires during wars of conquest during the Thirty Years' War, then came the War of the Palatinate Succession and with it French troops, which caused the almost complete destruction of Friedelsheim Castle in the Palatinate. It was rebuilt as a baroque castle a few decades later, before it was again devastated by fire around a hundred years later with the First Coalition War.

Remains of a castle built by Count Palatine Johann Kasimir (around 1578), renovated by Johan Wilhelm Kurfürst von der Pfalz (around 1698), and destroyed during the revolutionary storms (around 1794). Today only a few remains of the wall and the castle tower of the former medieval castle are visible. Only portals, remains of walls and parts of the wide moat remain of the castles. The tower, which is approx. 16 m high today, was restored in 1986/87. There is also a Mennonite church in the area of the castle.
