The Cranach House on Weimar's market square is an important example of the early Renaissance, where Lucas Cranach the Elder lived with his son and ran a workshop until his death in 1553. The famous altarpiece for the city church of St. Peter and Paul was also created here, while today the building houses the "Theater im Gewölbe" (Theater in the Vault), a small-scale performance venue.

Even venerable old buildings have been repurposed, but the main thing is that they are kept in good condition. They are certainly beautiful to look at.

On the cycle path connecting the towns of Umpferstedt and Frankendorf, you pass this "highest" point. It's a nice little break for the kids, who can count to see if they can see all the villages. Otherwise, the route continues leisurely through fields on good asphalt through the region.

The Europe Trail is certainly an important and beautiful highlight. However, I also think it's very important to mention that a key battle of the Napoleonic Wars, namely the Battle of Jena and Auerstedt, took place in this very area. Various plaques and memorial stones along the trail clearly document the sites of the military clashes.

We have our own Devil's Bridge, similar to the Rakotz Bridge in Kromlauer Park. It doesn't appear all the time, though. Be sure to find out when and if it appears.
