The Eichkogel is a 367-meter-high, protected hill south of Mödling, featuring species-rich dry grasslands and many rare plant and insect species. From the summit, there are beautiful views across the vineyards, the Vienna Woods, and the Vienna Basin. The diverse network of trails makes it a popular destination for hikes and leisurely walks in a natural setting.

Visited again today – this route takes you from Perchtoldsdorf up to the Kammersteiner Hütte and on to the Josefswarte – a classic Vienna Woods tour with plenty of forest, a few challenging climbs, and beautiful views. At the top, you can rest at the hut and, on a clear day, enjoy panoramic views of Vienna and the surrounding area from the lookout tower. Ideal as a sporty half-day hike with summit and mountain hut charm right on the city's doorstep.
