A beautiful church! With a great view. I took a break here during my hike. I especially liked the arrangement in front of the church entrance – benches and artwork.

It is a very nice cycle path with a rest area to Gr. Petersdorf with repair tools and a rest area near Rechnitz are both very nice. This railway path is also highly recommended for families. Don't forget the wooden locomotive in Hannersdorf with a playground and pasture area.

The cycle path was officially opened at the beginning of September. This approx. 14.5 km long section from Großpetersdorf to Rechnitz was developed as a cycle path on the former railway line. The oldest castle in Burgenland, built in 1157 as a fortification, sits enthroned on a long-extinct volcanic cone. After several changes of ownership, it came into the possession of the Battyány family in 1524. To ward off dangers from the east, it was expanded into a brick-walled fortress in the 16th and 17th centuries. And very special and unusual - really spooky - in the evening and night hours, when the castle shines in pink, purple, red light.
