The main town of the Reiat is known for the Knorr products that are manufactured here. Children not only love the soups but also the brand character "Knorrli". The "Kesslerloch", a prehistoric cave from the Paleolithic period, is also famous. Beautifully renovated half-timbered buildings make up the idyllic village center of Thayngen, which has a lot to offer culturally, including the Reiat Museum and the famous church window by Augusto Giacometti.

Today's seal tower was built in 1545 by Martin Heunsler from Stein am Rhein. It replaced an older building that served as the eastern entrance to the city. As early as the 16th century, the tower served not only as a clock tower, but also to store documents and the city seal. In 1863 the passage was increased by one meter. In 1943/44 the tower and the clockwork were extensively restored.
