The path leads over 29 footbridges and bridges and several stone stairs through the wild Almbachklamm near Marktschellenberg. Even a tunnel is crossed. At the foot of the Untersberg, the Almbach has formed a deep gorge in the terrain. The path through the Almbachklamm is three kilometers long. Trees line your path, the bubbling and roaring torrent flows next to you. Right at the entrance to the gorge you can visit the oldest marble ball mill in Germany. An adventure for the whole family – even in summer. The Almbachklamm is usually open from the beginning of May to the end of October. However, there may be changes due to weather conditions (it's best to check on the website before starting your tour). The starting point is the free Almbachklamm car park on Kugelmühlweg in Marktschellenberg. If you come by public transport, you can use bus lines 836 and 840. Further information is available at https://www.berchtesgaden.de/almbachklamm.

Salzburg's Old Town is a true gem and is full of history and culture. It's hard not to be amazed by the narrow, cobbled streets and magnificent baroque buildings that characterize this part of the city. Here you can simply stroll through the streets and enjoy the atmosphere that is so different from other parts of the world. The air is filled with the sound of Mozart's music and the buzz of tourists and locals strolling through the streets. Here and there you will discover a small alley that leads to a hidden square or a shady terrace. Here you can take a break, enjoy a coffee or an ice cream and just relax. Salzburg's Old Town is also a popular place for shops and restaurants. Here you will find everything from luxury boutiques to local shops selling traditional handicrafts and souvenirs. In the cozy cafes and restaurants you can take a break and indulge in Austrian cuisine. Salzburg is of course also an important place for art and culture. Mozart was born here and many of his most famous works were composed and performed here. The city is also home to numerous theaters, concerts and operas that attract thousands of visitors every year.

Salzburg is a beautiful city. There are so many sights that it would be wrong just to drive through here. A longer stay would therefore be advisable.

Admission is free, but donations are possible. A look inside the cathedral is definitely worth it. The walls, columns and ceiling have stucco work with many beautifully crafted details.

Very beautiful cathedral in the heart of Salzburg. The current cathedral had two medieval predecessors, the remains of which can be seen in the crypt. The first cathedral was consecrated by St. Virgil in 774. Under Archbishop Hartwik (991-1023) this building was expanded, and under Archbishop Conrad I (1106-1147) two western towers were added. In 1167 the cathedral, which was still Carolingian in its core, burned down. Archbishop Conrad III (1177-1183) then had a huge, Romanesque new building built, which was 110 m long, had five towers and probably looked similar to the cathedrals in Mainz and Worms. After a fire in 1598 it was also demolished. The foundation stone of the existing baroque cathedral was laid in 1614. It was consecrated by Archbishop Paris Lodron in 1628. About forty years later, the towers and the surrounding squares were completed. The baroque building impresses with its clear shapes, uniform decor and the bright facade made of local marble. Its architect, Santino Solari, came from Italy. He created the most important church building of that time north of the Alps, which influenced architecture throughout Austria and southern Germany. Beautiful baroque city center! For me, this city center, north of the Alps, is the absolute highlight when it comes to baroque buildings and churches.

Salzburg Cathedral, with its striking, twin-towered façade and imposing structure, dominates the old town. The surrounding baroque squares form a unique stage, used by the festival and recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. The present cathedral had two medieval predecessors, remnants of which can be seen in the crypt. St. Virgil consecrated the first cathedral in 774. Under Archbishop Hartwik (991-1023), this building was expanded, and under Archbishop Conrad I (1106-1147), two western towers were added. In 1167, the cathedral, still essentially Carolingian in style, burned down. Archbishop Conrad III (1177-1183) subsequently had a massive, Romanesque new building constructed, which was 110 meters long, had five towers, and probably resembled the cathedrals in Mainz and Worms. After a fire in 1598, it too was demolished. The foundation stone of the existing Baroque cathedral was laid in 1614. It was consecrated by Archbishop Paris Lodron in 1628. Approximately forty years later, the towers and surrounding plazas were completed. The Baroque building impresses with its clear forms, uniform decor, and luminous facade made of local marble. Its architect, Santino Solari, came from Italy.
