It was purchased in 1993 for the symbolic sum of one mark by the town of Bad Soden and leased in 1995 to the NABU (Nature and Biodiversity Conservation Union), Bad Soden local branch. The NABU restored the tower for ecological use in 1996 and 1997 with the help of sponsors, citizen donations, and a grant from the Main-Taunus district.
