After the wars: Thanks to generous donations from the couple Wilhelm Jung and Mrs. Anna née Dexheimer, who emigrated from Spiesheim to New York, new bells and prospect pipes were able to be procured after the First World War in 1921/1922. The money donated was also enough for a paved path from the street to the church door. The Spiesheim Evangelical Church from 1846 is one of the so-called “Moller country churches”. Viewings are possible by arrangement. You can find the bright hall church here: At the time of the introduction of the Reformation, Spiesheim had a church dedicated to St. Parish church dedicated to Stephen. It served the Reformed community as a place of worship until 1706. In that year, the community lost its church as a result of the division of the Palatinate church and bought a barn “Auf dem Liding”, which was set up as a place of worship. The first plans to build a new church dated from 1788 and construction of the foundations began in 1789. Lack of money, occupation by the French, two wars and finally the incorporation of Rheinhessen into the Grand Duchy of Hesse-Darmstadt are some of the reasons that prevented construction from continuing for five decades. Further construction began in the spring of 1844 under the direction of district architect Rhumbler von Alzey.
