On the Goetheweg in the direction of Brocken you reach the "Great Torfhausmoor", which you can explore over a wooden walkway. This is the headwaters of the Radau, a tributary of the Oker, in which the moor was formed around 3,000 years ago and reached its present size. The Große Torfhausmoor is one of the oldest raised bogs in the high Harz.
