First mentioned in a document in 1316. The castle was owned by the von Raesfeld zu Ostendorf family for around 400 years. Previously it belonged to Knight Berhard Bitter and his wife Gertrudis de Ostendorp. From 1825 the castle belonged to the Counts of Merveldt zu Lembeck. It was partially destroyed in a fire in 1934. The property now serves as the depot of a construction company.

Beautiful, rustic castle, well worth seeing.

There used to be a moat around the castle and in winter people met to go ice skating. There was an agricultural school there, then women were trained there, today it is called housekeeping, which was run by the Schoenstatt Sisters, as was the kindergarten that was nearby. Today that ev. training. Today's kindergarten was built next to the new church in 1977. The chapel was in the castle, right tower. The old St. Mary Magdalene Church was the common parish church for the people of Rapen and Horneburg. The new parish church was built in 1963. And the old church was given to Father Dr. Immicus. Today Russian Orthodox Church Behind the new church, the then pastor Prof. Dr. Emanuel had a Marian grotto built. Very beautiful and invites you to linger. Likewise, the church was built in the style of the Neviges pilgrimage church. The character of the church is there, unfortunately no longer so simple.

The simple two-storey building with a square corner tower and a curved dome was built between 1750 and 1752 by Jobst Edmund III. from Brabeck.

Beautifully landscaped with many flowering fruit trees and extremely well maintained, but private.

Every year the Land Partie takes place on the grounds of Lembeck Castle. At five, the castle immerses itself in a world of garden, living and fashion. The castle complex does not open again until Easter. Admission €4.50 for adults. Children from 3 years €3.
