A very beautiful, large branch of the Old Rhine – very idyllic in many places, with many small rowboats, a historic ferry, and many other features. A must-see and walk through.

Restaurant with a large outdoor area right next to the ferry and the Rhine promenade. Always very busy in good weather. Between the restaurant and the Rhine lies the Rhine promenade, which unfortunately is very busy here. The traffic jams caused by the many cars, motorcycles, and RVs searching for parking spaces significantly detract from the enjoyment of the Rhine.

A small branch of the Old Rhine, close to the lively Rhine promenade. Therefore, it's only semi-idyllic 😉. But beautiful 😀

Very nice restaurant with a view of the ferry

Here you are also a bit directly on the Rhine. Otherwise we went a lot through the alluvial forests of the old arms of the Rhine.

Today it no longer rotates. The bridge is probably quite old.

The historic old town of Ettlingen impresses with its narrow streets, beautiful cafés and historic houses next to modern city architecture. Ettlingen Castle rises in the middle of the old town, the oldest parts of which go back to a medieval castle that was converted into a representative Renaissance complex in the 16th century. Ettlingen is always worth a visit.

The gateway to the northern Black Forest with its old town, the many cafés, the town hall square, the castle, the stock of well-kept old half-timbered houses, the gastronomy (especially the Vogelbräu brewery) and many other highlights are a must-see.
