This 17th-century bridge spans the River Teifi and is listed as grade II. It's part of an old drovers' road. During periods of high water or heavy rain, the bridge might be completely underwater. In such cases, you'd need to go to Cardigan or Cenarth to cross the river.

Lovely fast water with adjacent old mill

Castell Aberteifi / Cardigan Castle overlooks the River Teifi in Cardigan, Ceredigion, Wales. The castle dates from the late 11th-century, Castle Green House was built inside the castle walls in the early 1800s. The site of a complex and fascinating history, taking a tour here is worth it if you’re interested in history. With kitchen gardens, a cafe and plenty of information to get stuck into, this makes for a lovely stop. Cegin 1176 Kitchen is the on-site Cafe and Restaurant, combining locally sourced produce with stunning views and a cool contemporary design.

The Welsh Wildlife Centre is a wildlife reserve covering the Teifi Marshes. It is a great place to visit and explore to see lots of trees, flowers and nature. There are a number of bird watching and nature spotting huts. The visitor centre has a cafe, information centre and gift shop.

Cilgerran occupies a spectacular site. Its two great round towers loom high above the deep gorge of the River Teifi and the fast-flowing stream of the Plysog.

Hearty Welsh pub to stop at after a walk or cycle.

This old-fashioned pub is a real gem - think sawdust floors, hams hanging from the ceiling and a warm wood stove.

Stunning views of the Preseli mountains

The River Teifi runs through the historic village of Cenarth and the Cenarth Falls are a series of waterfalls and pools with a salmon leap, set in beautiful, natural wooded valley surroundings. This is a great spot to have a rest and a coffee. Best chances of seeing fish leap are in Autumn when they’re swimming upstream to spawn.

Pont Treseli is a Grade II-listed single-arch stone bridge spanning Afon Cych at Abercych, a small riverside village boasting it's own micro-brewery.

Ancient and modern: Near the car park you will find two modern stones. They are much more obvious than the actual Rhos Fach stones, standing on common land on either side of the road. The stone on the right was airlifted down from Carn Meini in 1989 to mark the Silver Jubilee of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust. The stone on the left is a memorial to Waldo Williams. The ancient Rhos Fach standing stones are about 100 metres to the North behind a lot of gorse.

The Cilwendeg Shell House Hermitage is a most remarkable ornamental grotto, and a rare survival in West Wales. It is only open on Thursdays, although you can view it from outside any day. It's rather hidden away and the signs are a bit off-putting (it's on private land) - but access is permitted.

Overlooking the River Teifi just before it flows into the estuary, the castle underwent significant renovations before being opened to the public in 2015. The site of a complex and fascinating history, taking a tour here is worth it if you’re interested in history. Within the fortress walls, there's a mansion, built during the 1800s. With kitchen gardens, a cafe and plenty of information to get stuck into, this makes for a lovely stop if you’re in Cardigan. There is an entry fee to access the castle.

This is a great spot to have a rest and a coffee, while enjoying the sounds of the river which has such great importance for many villages along it. To have a chance of seeing fish leap, come here in autumn when they’re swimming upstream to spawn.
