A viaduct typically consists of several arches, piers, or columns that allow for a smooth alignment and often connect two points at the same level to cross a valley, road, or riverbed. Unlike simple bridges, which span a single obstacle, viaducts are multi-span and can consist of a series of interconnected bridges.

The Bohmte Bridge is a bridge spanning the Mittelland Canal, forming part of the Magdeburg Waterway Junction. It is renowned for its engineering and its importance to shipping. Construction of the bridge originally began in 1934 but was halted due to World War II and never resumed. Following German reunification, redesign commenced in 1993, and the bridge was inaugurated on October 10, 2003.

A beautiful beer garden for a stop

Very nice and also newly renovated: a huge bench with new wood, definitely enough for almost 10 people. And to top it off, there's a great view of the lake.

It is the only watermill in the Osnabrück region that commercially produces whole-grain flour using historic milling equipment. Visitors can tour the historic building.

The approximately 30 boulders made of gneiss and granite are the remains of two megalithic tombs that once stood side by side on this site. Many megalithic tombs have been destroyed over time. Some of the vandalism is certainly due to the superstition of people who viewed the megalithic tombs as pagan monuments. They believed they could only have been built with the help of the devil. With the onset of industrialization, the boulders were blasted to obtain building materials for roads and buildings. The stones were even sold to coastal regions, where they were used to build dikes and harbors.
