Agnes Bernauer Stele Bronze by Joseph Michael Neustifter: A Monument to Love Since September 14, 2013, a bronze stele by sculptor Joseph Michael Neustifter has stood in the forecourt of Blutenburg Castle. It was donated by Ursula and Fritz Heimbüchler, a married couple from Obermenzing, as a tribute to the love between Duke Albrecht III and Agnes Bernauer, the daughter of a bathhouse owner. Until now, there had been no mention of the tragic events between 1430 and 1435 surrounding the young Albrecht and his companion, who was ultimately drowned in the Danube by Albrecht's father, Duke Ernst. After several years of preparation, a suitable location for the work was finally found. The stele, with its many small details waiting to be discovered, is intended as a response to the castle's history. The tilting of the two heads symbolizes their love, the artist explained at the unveiling ceremony. Nymphenburg Palace is a listed building in the Neuhausen-Nymphenburg district of Munich, the capital of Bavaria. From 1715 to 1918, it served as the summer residence of the Electors and Kings of Bavaria from the House of Wittelsbach. Over two centuries, the architects Enrico Zuccalli and Joseph Effner transformed it from a small country house into a monumental three-winged complex in the Baroque and Rococo styles. Together with the eastern rotunda, the western park, four castles, and numerous canals, the palace forms a unique architectural ensemble. Nymphenburg is one of the largest palaces in Germany and one of the most important in Europe. Due to controversial plans to demolish the palace wing at Maria-Ward-Straße 1a for the Biotopia Museum, Nymphenburg Palace was placed on the Red List of the Association of German Art Historians in early 2021. In response, citizens, experts, and associations founded the "Action Group for Nymphenburg Palace" in April 2021. They also launched an online petition for the relocation of Biotopia and the preservation of the castle wing. In 1663, on the occasion of the birth of his long-awaited heir, Crown Prince Max Emanuel, the Bavarian Elector Ferdinand Maria (reigned 1651–1679) gifted the estate of Menzing to his wife, Henriette Adelaide of Savoy. Blutenburg Castle was already located there. In the same year, the Elector purchased the Kemnat farmstead, situated to the east and closer to Munich, for 10,000 florins. In 1664, he commissioned the construction of a country palace as another gift for his wife. She named the palace, to which the court's activities subsequently shifted, "Nymphenburg." Contrary to a widespread misconception, the Italianized name "Borgo delle Ninfe" is a 19th-century creation. Initially conceived as a pleasure palace in the style of Italian country villas, the complex was expanded a generation later under Max Emanuel into a Baroque palace, serving as a summer residence and an alternative to the Munich Residenz. Nevertheless, the court's entertainments were sometimes relocated to Schleißheim Palace, in whose park Lustheim Palace had by then also been built. Both structures are part of the expansive Olympic Park, which was created on the site of the 1972 Olympic Games. In addition to the tower and stadium, the park offers many green spaces, lakes (such as the Olympic Lake), sports facilities, and event venues.

From the viewing platform at a height of approximately 190 meters, one has a spectacular panoramic view over Munich and, in clear weather, as far as the Alps; it also serves as a television tower and is an important part of Munich's infrastructure.
