The Berlin-Stettin shipping route (later the Hohenzollern Canal, now the Oder-Havel Waterway) was built by 1912 to provide a direct link between the metropolis of Berlin and the Baltic Sea port of Stettin. On the west side of the Grabowsee, the hiking trail mostly runs close to the shore. If you want to walk around the lake, there is no direct way to cross the Stintgraben. You have to continue walking to the railway embankment of the former line from Oranienburg to Schmachtenhagen and cross the Stintgraben and the Bäke on this.
