It's really worth taking a little tour around Lake Werbelin as the lake is completely covered in asphalt and is very flat.

The Werbeliner See nature reserve is a beautiful destination. Here you can relax, unwind and make great nature observations. !BUT BE CAREFUL - THE LAKE IS NOT A SWIMMING LAKE! To protect the biodiversity that has developed here, leaving the paths and consequently swimming is not allowed in the 1500 hectare protected area. The nearby Schladitzer See is a good alternative for anyone looking for a place for water-based leisure activities. The area is one of the largest and most important nature reserves in Saxony. Special species such as wolves, sea eagles, otters, beavers and, above all, a nationally outstanding bird population have settled here. Over 500 animal and over 270 plant species have been recorded so far. Further information and excursion offers at: nsgwerbelinersee.de

The stupid thing about the story is that not a single house had to be demolished. Mining has been stopped at the entrance to the town.

A very nice lake to walk around! 🥾🏞️ The route is 17km long and can be done in about 3 hours.
