Beautiful area

Fredericia's ramparts have six openings connecting the city center with the surrounding area, but only three of them have actual gates: Danmarks Port, Prinsens Port, and Nørre Port. Prinsens Port is the oldest of the gates, dating back to 1753 in its current design. When the yellow, brick gate was built in 1753, it replaced an earlier wooden gate. Danmarks Port, the newest gate of the city walls, dates from 1924 and was also designed in the Neoclassical style by architect Oscar Gundlach-Pedersen. Besides the fact that Nørre Port and Danmarks Port are based on the same architectural style and were designed by the same architect, there are also clear visual parallels in the round shape of the arch and the two smaller, separate arches for pedestrians that symmetrically flank the main passageway. The beach cycle path along Hyby Strand in Fredericia offers a scenic, family-friendly route with views of the Little Belt and access to a clean Blue Flag beach. Nordstjernen is the oldest house in Fredericia and was built in 1650—the same year King Frederik III founded the city. Farmer Mads Sørensen erected the building at Kongensgade 25, one of the city's most prestigious streets, which also housed the town hall, the Latin school, and other elegant buildings. In 1975, architect Morten Røjel purchased the then-dilapidated house for a symbolic price and began a ten-year restoration project to return it to its original condition. With meticulous attention to detail and the support of volunteers, the building was restored and today shines in its historic beauty.
