Observation tower with superb panoramic views

The Black Lake was created by expanding and redesigning the old Branitz village pond. On Fuchsinsel (Fox Island) stands the Swiss-style Swan House. Prince Pückler brought a model of it back from a trip to Salzburg, based on which he had it constructed and erected around 1850. The Fish Balcony was built on the shore of the Black Lake as early as 1849. The cast-iron railing, designed by Karl Friedrich Schinkel, was added in 1863. Cottbus has done a lot for its bike path infrastructure and, in my opinion, has left many "bicycle cities" behind, partly because the surrounding area is also developed. I particularly like the natural, unpaved bike paths.

From today's perspective, it's hard to comprehend why the castle building was demolished in the early 1980s, resulting in the loss of a historical treasure. At least the teahouse, which belonged to the former castle, was renovated. Regular events, such as the traditional "Teahouse Christmas," are now held there.
