China Cove is a sandy cove on Donner Lake. This is a quieter and more relaxed one in the southern part of the lake. There is limited parking in the area. Stopping here on a run is a great way to enjoy the tranquility of the cove.

Emerald Pools in Tahoe National Forest are these incredible natural pools formed at the conjunction of Jordan Creek and the South Yuba River. It's actually worth hiking/scrambling/climbing up the Jordan Creek gorge because you'll find some smaller emerald pools as well.

The stunning lake, surrounded by thick pine forest, sits 5,170 feet above sea level and is a playground for outdoor exploration. There are hiking trails, fishing, and boating opportunities to enjoy this spectacular scenic lake. It is a great spot to stop and take a breather while you take in the gorgeous scenery.

Glacier Lake is small in size but grand in beauty. Earlier in the season (June) the trail towards Glacier Lake is in great shape but the lake itself might still be covered in snow and ice which makes it a great destination if you ask me.

Scotts Flat Lake/Reservoir is an artificial lake in Tahoe National Forest and offers plenty of recreational opportunities. There are a couple of dedicated hiking trails along its shoreline.

The West Shore of Donner Lake is a public beach and park with a 12-acre day-use beach and American Red Cross-certified lifeguards. They are on the go during the summer, watching swimmers, kayakers, and stand-up paddle boarders. There is a concession stand open seven days a week during the summer.

Scotts Flat Lake, also known as Scotts Flat Reservoir, is an 850-acre man-made lake in Tahoe National Forest. This scenic lake can be seen along Dam Road and has trails that encircle it.
