Exceptional views open up at a gap in the snow shed tunnels that used to protect the old railroad tracks across Donner Pass. Now this section is converted to a trail and can be walked all year, though snowshoes and poles are particularly useful in winter when the trail is slippery.

A place for you to enjoy beautiful views of Donner Lake and Tahoe National Forest. Take your time to relax and appreciate the surrounding nature.

Great place to take in the view of Martis Creek Lake. This lake was created with the completion of the Martis Creek Dam in 1972.

A commemorative plaque honoring the preservation of Waddle Ranch by the Truckee Donner Land Trust. Waddle Ranch is a great place to spot wildlife of all varieties, and at the right time of year, the wildflowers are incredible.

Lake Ella is located in the Waddle Ranch Preserve. The lake is a great place to view Waterfowl and if you're lucky a bald eagle.

The Bridgeport Covered Bridge is a historical landmark located in the South Yuba River State Park. Built in 1862 by David John Wood, this iconic structure is the longest single-span wooden covered bridge in the world, stretching 233 feet across the South Yuba River. The bridge originally served as a crucial crossing point for miners, traders, and settlers during the California Gold Rush, facilitating transportation and commerce in the region. It is a California Registered Historical Landmark and was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1971.

A steep trail will lead you to the towering Tinker Knob with beautiful views. Continue along a ridge, which could be very windy.

Tunnel 6 was built by Chinese laborers in 1866 by hand. They broke and hauled off solid granite rock, working in harsh conditions. They built Tunnel 6, the longest tunnel in the Sierra Crossing. Today, you can still walk through the tunnel and imagine what a feat building it by hand was.
