Vossenberg Fortress is situated on a sand ridge in the Groote Peel nature reserve. Built in 1939 as the threat of war from Germany intensified, the fortress consists of six casemates (now national monuments) and was part of the Peel-Raam fortification system. It remained unused during the German invasion of 1940. Heavy fighting took place in the surrounding marshy terrain in the autumn of 1944. Weert's town center once boasted several public water pumps. After the introduction of lead water pipes, all these pumps disappeared from the streets. To keep the memory of this pumping history alive, the municipality installed a pump in 1981 on Oelemarkt, where a public water pump had stood until 1933.

St. Martin's Church is the main church, or deanery church, of Weert. The church is used for Roman Catholic worship and is dedicated to Saint Martin. Like the Grote or Michaelskerk in Zwolle, St. Martin's Church in Weert is a hall church. These are the only two surviving examples of this type of late Gothic building in the Netherlands. The building is listed among the top 100 by the National Service for Monument Care, primarily due to the exceptional quality of its detailed and colorful vault paintings; one of the largest continuous late Gothic vault paintings in the Netherlands.
