The Heusden bridge crosses the Bergsche Maas. The bridge was opened in 1990 and is the first concrete cable-stayed bridge in the Netherlands. It is not the first bridge that was there. The current bridge replaced an earlier bridge that was destroyed by the occupying forces in 1940. In memory of the original bridges and in honor of 100 years of Bergsche Maas, a monument was erected on the north side of the river with two restored lampposts that originally adorned the bridge.
