Back in the days that the Black River Canal was active this place served as a warehouse, nowadays, it works as an exhibition center, complementing the Boonville Black River Museum. The exhibition has pictures and artifacts that tell the history of the economic importance of the Canal and the surrounding communities.

With steep hills cloaked in woodland, a gorgeous stream and a 15-meter (50 ft) waterfall, there's plenty to explore at Pixley Falls State Park. There's a nature trail that explores the area around the main waterfall and the Black River Canal Trail also passes through the park.

This warehouse is situated by the Black River Canal in the town of Boonville. The canal was constructed in the 19th century and links to the historic Erie Canal. A walk along the towpaths is a lovely way to spend a couple of hours.

A grand body of water surrounded by the trees of Black River Wild Forest, Woodhull Lake is a delightful sight. It's one of the region's most popular destinations and is easily accessed from the McKeever Trailhead. The lake is also popular for fishing and boating.

The Woodhull Mountain Trail is especially popular with cyclists and hikers. This is because it follows the bed of a former railway, making for easy going until the final summit slopes are reached. The peak is 721 meters (2,365 ft) high and rewards with fine Adirondack views.

The trailhead here gives access to a number of routes that explore this part of the Black River Wild Forest. There's the Woodhull Mountain Trail, which can be followed all the way to the of the 720-metre (2,365 ft) summit. Then there's the lovely forest walk to Bear Lake, a particularly scenic spot. If you want to walk a bit further, there's also the option of a loop taking in Woodhull Lake too.

Bear Lake is accessed via a beautiful Adirondack hike that begins from the McKeever Trailhead. Expect lovely forest vibes and then then great views across the water when you arrive at the lake. Another option from the same trailhead is the trail to Woodhull Mountain.
