The Chesapeake and Ohio Canal Trail is one of the East Coast's premier bicycle pathways. It follows the abandoned Chesapeake and Ohio Canal and runs from Washington, DC, to Cumberland, Maryland.

Loys Station Covered Bridge has had a turbulent history. Built in 1848, it crosses Owen's Creek. In 1991, it was burned down by an arsonist who plotted to fraudulently take the insurance money. It took three years to rebuild.
