St. Mary Magdalene's Church is located in the north of the Södermalm district, between Slussen and Mariatorget. The church, which was consecrated in 1634, was rebuilt several times in the 17th century and was badly damaged by fire in 1759. It received its current appearance through reconstruction in 1760-1763 according to plans by the Stockholm architect Carl Johan Cronstedt. The current church tower in neoclassical style was completed in 1825.
