The Reeuwijkse Plassen are a long, elongated water and nature reserve near Gouda, created by medieval peat extraction. It's a popular area for walking, cycling, and especially for boating and stand-up paddleboarding. Around the lakes, you'll find beaches, nature, and charming restaurants and cafes, especially near Reeuwijk-Brug.

The Reeuwijkse Plassen consist of thirteen lakes, twelve of which were created by peat extraction in the 18th century. One lake, the Broekvelden/Vettenbroek, was only created in the 20th century by sand extraction. Today, many of the lakes are used for water recreation.

One of the better paths to walk between the Reeuwijkse plassen. I find the paths where cars are allowed to drive less pleasant because they are also quite narrow. This path is a feast, especially because I once saw a kingfisher there!

This beautiful bridge is located on the border of three lakes, namely the Ravensberg, the Kleine Vogelplas and the Grote vogelplas. The foundation of this bridge was renewed in 2019 with..............willow branches!
