This is great fun! A great shark's fin of rock, rising at right angles to to main ridge right at the very top of Sgurr Dearg. The rock is sound and grippy, but you do need a head for heights as in places the ridge you are climbing is only about a foot wide. As you can imagine, the views from the top are sensational! The way down is to abseil straight down the shorter vertical side, with your rope attached to the massive boulder at the top of the pinnacle. You won't forget this experience!

5月 24, 2024, Glenbrittle Youth Hostel
Occupying a magnificent position to the west of the formidable Cuillin, Glenbrittle Youth Hostel is an excellent basecamp for adventures on the famous ridge. Open from April to September, the hostel boasts a drying room, catering at breakfast only, secure lockers and free parking for guests. There's no way to reach the hostel by public transport. The nearest bus stop is at Sligachan, around 15 miles (24 km) away.

A beautiful mountain tarn that sits just below the Cuillin Ridge. It can be easily accessed by walking from the Glen Brittle campsite, with a few bits of easy scrambling towards the end. It takes around an-hour-and-a half-hour to get there. For those looking to get amongst the mountains without climbing them, this is a great option.

4月 30, 2024, An Stac Ridge
An Stac is an incredibly steep and committing scramble that should not be underestimated. It's very exposed and has no escape routes. With this said, it is an awesome route that, when dry, should not be missed by avid scramblers.

2月 22, 2024, Bruach na Frithe Summit
Bruach na Frithe is one of the easier Munros in the Cuillin, giving hikers access to the crest without the trepidation involved with most outings on the famously challenging ridge. Its summit is regarded as one of the finest mountain viewpoints on the island. Nevertheless, it's still a tough mountain hike by usual UK standards, with plenty of rocky terrain. The usual approach is from the Sligachan Hotel via Fionn Choire, while the narrow northwest ridge gives scrambling interest.

Access onto the ridge from fairy pools. One large, semi sheltered Bivi available.

Sgùrr Dearg – Inaccessible Pinnacle (AKA In Pinn) is a prominent peak in the Cuillin Range of Skye. The Pinnacle itself is a austere and rocky spike and not a hiking summit. All routes to the summit involve different degrees of climbing, with the easiest of the summer routes being graded as Moderate, with some serious exposure. You MUST bring suitable equipment, as well as being a proficient climber, or consider going with an appropriate guide.

Great munro, but you will only get good views once you have reached the saddle. Most of the way up is through empty moorlands before the ascent that gets steep in places. The last 400m up are mostly on rocks and scree, so you do need to be quite sure-footed - not just on the way up but also on the way down. Given the views, this is one you'd probably want to do on a good day. If you do happen to find yourself in a thick clag, you do want to have some navigation skills for the part up to the saddle as the trail is not always clear.

Great view, but you have to practice climbing in some places. Good hiking shoes recommended but no sticks as you sometimes have to use your hands. We walked a circular route, which unfortunately I didn't record because I remembered it too late. Rainwear is absolutely necessary. Weather can change quickly.

An excellent Munro with some breathtaking views. One of the easier of the Cuilins to tackle, with nothing too difficult to tackle and only minor scrambling.

12月 3, 2019, Sgùrr Dearg
If Sgurr Dearg doesn’t ring a bell, the name of its famous summit feature will sound like a clang: The Inaccessible Pinnacle. The most hard-won Munro of all, and one that requires rock climbing to top, this shark-fin of rock is the greatest challenge UK peak baggers will face and the highlight of Skye’s Cuillin for many.

One of my first Munros. Pretty easy tour without much difficulty.

Quote here Wikipedia, as aptly formulated: The Inaccessible Pinnacle, almost always called only In-Pinn, forms the actual summit of Sgùrr Dearg. He is the summit upstream on the steep, southern flank. On the one hand, it is distinguished by its special shape, as it seems to look like a huge stone razor blade set on the mountain. On the other hand, he is generally considered the most difficult of all Scottish Munros and on top of that the only one whose climbing is possible only by climbing.
