Despite being about ten kilometers from the city, Platamona is Sassari's beach par excellence: a wide expanse of light sand that plunges into a sea of changing colours, varying from green to blue. Recognizable for its vastness, Platamona is the longest and most extensive beach on the entire coast which extends from Porto Torres to Castelsardo, embracing the Abbacurrente tower and joining the Marina di Sorso.

The Platamona pond derives its name from the Greek and means flat surface. In fact it is a flat area where you feel like a guest of luxuriant nature. It is a perfect place for birdwatchers.
