Medieval town by the Avon. Plenty to see.

Old and quirky building. Good food.

vfounded by St. Aldhelm 705, rediscovered in 19thC. Very beautiful. The whole building is thought to be from the 950-1050

Lovely views to the River Avon across this historic bridge. Dating from the 13th or 14th C

the point at which the Kennet and Avon canal crossed the river and railway line via the Aqueduct built by John Rennie & John Thomas between 1797 and 1801. Good pub here which will reopen summer 2025. This is on the main railway line now becoming a regular (request?) stop since 2011

This is (I believe) the oldest Tithe barn in either the South West, or the county?! I cant remember 🤦‍♀️ so not much help!! BUT, it's definitely worth poking your head in, it is a lovely space and you can sort of feel the past, and I love that.

It was extremely flooded when I went, but of course this doesn't happen all year!! Make sure to check out the tithe barn, and the absolutely stunning Saxon church!

Enjoy a beautiful stretch of walking along the softly flowing Kennett & Avon Canal between Bradford-on-Avon & Avoncliffe.
