A peaceful spot on paradise

The coastline north of Porthallow is rugged and scenic, dotted with hidden coves and dramatic headlands. You'll find secluded spots like Nare Point, which offers fantastic views across the water, and Gillan Creek, known for its peaceful setting. The coves often feature rocky shores and clear waters, making them perfect for exploring or enjoying the coastal scenery.

The beautiful Helford River forms a large scenic body of water that meanders its way between The Lizard and Falmouth. There are a number of stunning villages and beaches on both of its banks, Helford Passage being one of them. Situated on the north bank, this picturesque waterside hamlet has picture postcard cottages, houses, and a beach, as well as a ferry that operates on demand between Helford Passage and Helford village on the south bank. It only runs, however, on a seasonal basis between 1st April and 1st October. This is on a demand-only basis between 9.20am and 5pm. Dogs and bicycles are accepted on the crossing.

Frenchman's Creek is a beautiful, but hidden spot on the Helford River, famous for being the inspiration for Daphne Du Maurier's 1942 novel of the same name. While running along the creek, keep a careful watch for wading birds and a shipwreck that is submerged in the mud.

Penarvon cove is a secret little beach. Run here from Helford and you will most likely have the place to yourself. Surrounded by trees and looking out across the Helford River, it's like a place that time forgot.
