1月 16, 2025, Carn Marth and Hick's Quarry Pool
Worth climb to the cairn for the downhill section on the main access road. Then drop into single track round the back lanes of Carharrack. Sweet! :)

This churchyard is among Britain’s most beautiful, boasting spring flowers, rhododendrons, and camellias. There are plenty of places to sit and enjoy the scenery and great views of the creek.

Great coast to coast route across mid Cornwall mainly off road trails and occasional quiet roads. Coffee stops, pub stops, great scenery, mining history and coastal views. There is nothing to dislike about this route.

Small castle with great views, a few audio clips recreating life in the castle as it would have been during Henry VIII ‘s time.

St Mawes. Nice town with beach on the Roseland Peninsula. Good parking, tourist shops, cafes, ice cream, pubs and co-op. Very expensive. St Mawes castle (English Heritage) not huge but very interesting and worth a visit.

This small castle is looked after English Heritage, it was used as a look out point & just in case there was an invasion from Franch, Portugale, Holland or Spain. it was never attacked that's why it looks so well preserved, it was surrendered during the English Uprising. The views looking over to Falmoth, St Mawes & Place across the Bay up to St Anthony's Head is also a great place to visit if in St Mawes.

St Mawes Castle is one of the best-preserved coastal fortresses built by Henry VIII between 1539 and 1545 to defend against an invasion threat from Catholic France and Spain. The most elaborately decorated of the chain of forts, St Mawes Castle guarded the important anchorage of Carrick Roads along with Pendennis Castle on the other side of the Fal estuary. The castle is managed by English heritage. Tickets cost £6.30 for adults and £3.80 for children. For more information, visit: https://www.english-heritage.org.uk/visit/places/st-mawes-castle/.

The Carnon Viaduct passes over the Carnon River as part of the Falmouth to Truro railway line. The impressive 9 stone arches were completed in 1933. The original viaduct was designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel. The stone piers of the former viaduct can be seen next to the existing viaduct.

6月 16, 2023, St Just-in-Roseland Church and Churchyard
The church is on the site of a 6th century Celtic chapel, and for 400 years after its foundation it was served by clergy from the adjacent cell of Lanzeague, until Roseland was taken over by the Saxon Bishops of Crediton and Exeter. Robert, Bishop of Exeter, gave St Just Church to the Canons of Plympton Priory in 1140, but the patronage was bought back in 1190 by John le Sor, Lord of Tolverne for a yearly sum of 13s 4d.

11月 2, 2022, Portreath Beach
Portreath marks the start, or finish of the Cornwall coast to coast off road trail. There is an excellent cafe shack run by the Portreath Bakery on the seafront and lots of benches next door so you don't have to worry about getting your bike sandy to sit down with a beautiful sea view. The beach is popular with experienced surfers and families. There are public toilets and a car park closeby. Behind the harbour wall is Portreath Rock Pool, which is an excellent wild swimming spot when the sea is rough or for children. It was created by blowing a hole in the rock to create the pool and then adding a concrete dam. It is swimmable a few hours either side of low tide and is known locally as 'Rocky Pool'.

11月 2, 2022, Carnon Viaduct
The Carnon Viaduct is still in operation, unlike many other local viaducts. It carries the Truro to Falmouth railway line over the Carnon River. Underneath the current structure are the masonry piers of the previous viaduct, designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel and built in 1863. It was constructed of masonry and wood. The wooden sections were dismantled but the piers remain.

5月 20, 2021, St Just-in-Roseland Church and Churchyard
This Church yard walk is like nowhere I've ever seen before, it's like being in a fairytale land & really feels like it should be in Italy or somewhere more tropical. If you're anywhere near the area them make sure you pay a visit, the parking is free also.
