Known as one of Cornwall's prettiest inland villages, Veryan is famous for the round houses, built n the 19th century by the vicar. Houses were sometimes built with circular walls so the devil couldn't hide in the corners.

Owned by the National Trust, Carne Beach is easily accessible from the road and footpath (no steps). There are toilets here as well as a coffee shack and a big car park, plus an easy walk up to Nare Head in the east on the coast path.

Stunning panoramic views atop Nare Head. There is a nuclear bunker underground here which is open to visitors a few times a year.

Far off in the distance you can see Dodman Point. While the much closer rocks jutting out into the ocean are Caragloose Point.

Look west to Portloe and you can easily see why this small walled area of land was created. A watchman was stationed up here to spot smuggling activity, which was rife in this tiny harbour. The vantage point here would have given a very clear view of everything that was going on.
