Salas de los Infantes is the capital of the Sierra de la Demanda region and is located in the valley of the Arlanza river. The origin of the town dates back to the 10th century. Among its main attractions are the church of Santa María, church of Santa Cecilia, the palace of the Infantes de Lara and Plaza Mayor.

Right when you pass by the town of Castrovido, there is an old stone bridge that was used in ancient times to cross the river that passes by the town itself.

In the valley of the Tejero river, on the Atlantic slope of the Sierra de la Demanda and to the north of the Sierra de Neila, this small but pretty town called Vallejimeno appears. A Roman bridge appears that crosses the river!

In one of the bends before reaching the top of Alto de Gayubar we find a high watch tower that helps in dry times to monitor the set of slopes that are around the area.

From this point you can see impressive panoramic views of the whole of the valleys that appear around, where at the top of the Sierra de Neila, there is the Alto de Gayubar that is above one thousand six hundred meters height

Castrovido castle is one of the emblems of Salas de los Infantes. Its Celtiberian and Roman origin is possible. It is located at the top of a small hill and has been restored inside.

Located in the valley of the Arlanza river, in the southeast of the province of Burgos. The territory where Salas is today was inhabited by the Celtiberian tribe of the Pelendones, who occupied a fort on a hill, until the arrival of the Romans, who established a settlement on the river bank.
