Built between 1200 and 1240, the exact date of construction of this Romanesque fieldstone church on a cruciform floor plan is unknown – Ice Age boulders were used locally. St. Crucis features Gothic-style alterations, including the choir apse in the east and the organ loft. Bricks were used for the first time during these construction projects, and these bricks were subsequently used extensively in the Margraviate of Brandenburg during the so-called Brick Gothic period.

The church is open.

The public and historic Dahlen estate, which now houses a nursing home, is embedded in a landscape park. Many of the trees growing in the estate park are of exotic origin and have name plaques. There are numerous places to sit and there is also a covered picnic table for tired hikers right in front of the entrance to the nursing home.

This is indeed a very mystical place and it is advisable to explore the area a little more extensively, as there are still many remains of walls to be discovered apart from the actual fieldstone walls of the church.

The church is unfortunately closed, but in front of it stands a natural monument, an old linden tree.

A must for everyone who grew up in the GDR, others are of course allowed too. and there is also a rustic inn in the middle of the forest🤗. The poems are great, take your time.
