Even though this small sacred monument isn't located on the famous Way of St. James through northern Spain, the wayside cross/crucifix standing here might provide some inspiration. The entertainer, especially famous in Germany, walked the Camino Frances in 2001 and kept a diary, which was published under the title "Ich bin dann mal weg" (I'm off then). In it, he describes his personal encounter with God along the way as follows: "Yesterday, something inside me struck a huge gong. And the sound will reverberate. Sooner or later, this path shakes everyone to their very foundations. I know the sound will slowly fade, but if I listen carefully, I'll be able to hear this reverberation for a very long time to come."

This chapel in Bruchhausen, another well-maintained small sacred monument in this area, houses an olive wood statue of the Virgin Mary with the Infant Jesus in her arms. Perhaps a local resident brought it back from a pilgrimage to the Holy Land in Israel and donated it to this chapel.

Hape Kerkeling, a comedian well-known in Germany, set out on the Way of St. James through Spain in 2001 and kept a diary that was later published as a book. In the 'Real Monasterio San Zoilo', he noted an observation that I would also like to offer to the viewer of this small sacred monument: "Directly above hangs the enormous crucifix, and for the first time, I consciously perceive that the crucified Christ is clearly looking in one direction: From our perspective, Jesus Christ, in most depictions, is looking to the left.
