1187年に初めて言及されたヴィッテンベルクのシュタット教会聖マリア教会は、マルティン・ルターが1512年から説教を行った宗教改革の母教会とされています。市内で最も古い建物（約1281年から建設）として、ドイツ語での最初の福音主義礼拝の舞台となりました。クラナッハ祭壇を収蔵しており、ユネスコ世界遺産に登録されています。マルティン・ルター（1512年以降）とヨハネス・ブーゲンハーゲンの主要説教教会です。1521年にはドイツ語でのミサが初めて祝われ、聖餐が両方の形態（パンとワイン）で授与されました。

ヴィッテンベルゲのシュタイン門は、1297年に初めて言及された、この街で最も古いランドマークです。1430年頃の火災の後、現在の形に再建され、要塞化された街の北西の出口でした。かつて「アルター・トゥルム」と呼ばれていたこの塔は、19世紀には牢獄として使用され、1928年からは郷土博物館となっています。
