The Posada de los Portales is one of Tomelloso's most emblematic buildings, located in the Plaza de España. Construction: Second half of the 17th century (some sources indicate 1778), as an inn for travelers and merchants. Style: Traditional La Mancha architecture, featuring: A portico supported by four Tuscan columns and two pillars. Wooden galleries with turned balusters, reminiscent of classic courtyard houses. An interior with a primitive kitchen, a large fireplace, and original wooden beams.

Historic building. Today it is a public building where the Tomelloso tourist office is installed.

The most emblematic buildings to visit are: the Posada de los Portales (Historical-Artistic Monument of Provincial Interest); Parish of the Assumption of Our Lady; City hall; Antonio López Torres Museum (declared by the JCCM as an Emblematic Building of the 20th century); Caves; Chimneys of the old alcohol factories, with a height of up to 45 meters; Museo del Carro y Aperos y Labranza: ethnographic museum, which tells us how farmers worked the land and made wine some decades ago. The jewel of this museum, without a doubt, is the "bombo", built using the dry stone technique. More than 2,000,000 stones were used in its construction.

Tomelloso is a large agricultural and administrative center of La-Mancha. Sitting on extremely flat terrain, the town and surrounding landscape is suitable for biking if you don't fancy climbing. Head to the Plaza de España to see the large City Hall building.

La Posada de los Portales was originally a typical La Mancha inn. It was declared a historical-artistic monument, it is the most emblematic building of the city, located in the Plaza de España. On both floors it has continuous wooden balconies. Currently, on two of its three floors it houses traveling exhibitions.

In the same Plaza de España is the Parish Church of Nª Sª de la Asunción. With a Latin cross floor plan and lateral naves, its construction can date back to several times. Originally from the end of the 16th century, in later years side chapels were added and the tower, completed in 1689. During the 18th century, the transept and the main altarpiece were added and its current dedication was definitively awarded.

The Plaza de España is the center of Tomelloso and the main square of the city. Here you will find the Town Hall, the police station, the Parish Church of Nª Sª de la Asunción, bars and cafes. It's a good place to meet friends and have a drink.

The warehouses are an institution founded in the late Middle Ages. Its main activity was the subsidization of bread in years of famine in order to guarantee its price, as well as bakery among walkers and the poor. To these functions is added, from s. XVII, the loan of wheat or money between farmers. Its maximum splendor occurs throughout the s. XVIII, producing its total disappearance at the end of the s. XX.
