While the ascent of the slag heap is flat and gently uphill in its first part, it is followed by a long, steeper section of walking before reaching the summit. It is clearly stated that descending via any route other than the designated access point is strongly discouraged due to the risk of rockfalls.

This archway is accessible, but the following ones toward Nort-sur-Erdre are not, due to ongoing safety work. A beautiful spot down below for a picnic on the banks of the Erdre.

Beautiful medieval castle. The main building is more recent. As a side note, the Isac River fed the castle's imposing moats, now dry, before being channeled to the current marina.

Picnic table below the aqueduct. The site of the ford on the Erdre is also charming (but impassable when I passed there).
