The castle was converted into a farm from the 18th century until the First World War.

The abbey of Vauclair (or also Vauclerc) is a former abbey of Cistercian monks, located on the territory of the commune of Bouconville-Vauclair. It was founded in 1134 and destroyed in 1917 during the war.
